Dan:

Interesting viewpoint, nicely flashed, good POV. Good choice on f/stop. Bill pretty sharp, eye appears just a bit less so. Perhaps a bit more sharpening.

When I know that DOF is going to be a challenge, I will often take several shots with the focus point moving from closest to further away, not with the intention of merging them, but to be able to pick the one with the best distribution of the available DOF to show what I want. You may have already done that here of course.

Little tight top and bottom, and I could see moving him more to the left in the frame.

Cheers

Excellent feather details and nice looking back pose, Dan. The top of the frame is a little tight IMO.

Dan, I meant to ask, are you using the flash, on or off camera?

Excellent IQ Dan but a bit tight at the top and bottom for my liking. I like Randy's idea of moving the bird to the left in the frame.
DOF very good. I wish the tip of the bill had cleared the feathers.

Like this a lot, Dan. Beautiful feather detail and nice head turn. Agree that it is a bit tight top and bottom. Very nice use of fill.

I like the exposure control, DOF, flash work and water texture at the bottom of the frame. Very well done Dan!
