Hi Dan, excellent low angle, and you captured a super pose too. I like the droplets on the body, together with the bit of weed on the tail. Good use of flash, as its subtle, and just personal, I would take a bit off the bottom.

Hi Dan, might be the MBP laptop, but the BKG looks quite posterised????? Not like you if I'm right.

Dan:

Your grebe is outstanding, with excellent flash use, shooting angle, angle in frame. Well done.

I am seeing the same thing as Steve in the background and would revisit that. I have had occ. problems when posting on the web of jpegs that look great on my computer before being posted, but didn't show well on the web.

Cheers

Excellent pose captured, Dan. The water droplets on the body really add interest. Good use of flash.

What a great example of flash being done well!
Great POV and beautiful details.
I like the somber color palette.

looks great Dan, love the low angle and details. nice uniform light with flash with excellent color balance.

I see some hints of posterization in the BG on my screen, could be just JPEG compression but it doesn't heart to run another round of NR on it

Thanks for the comments. The BG posterization is really from the flash. This was just
an experiment and some things I liked for low light imaging (most of what I do in the NW).
I think using flash as opposed to going with extreme iso has some merit.

I like the dark mood, pose, HA, sharpness, composition and excellent use of flash. Well done Dan!
