Falling snow and birds in flight can be difficult. Captured this image on one of my Alaska eagle tours a few years back. Keeping my single focus point on the head where there is lots of contrast allowed the camera to focus correctly. I had a rock wall in my BG fairly close behind the bird so I opened up my 300mm lens to blur out the BG to keep it from competing with my subject.

Image cropped from horizontal capture.

Dark BG, snow and banking eagle - that's a dream setting, Dale.
Terrific details and exposure. The pose is near perfect - I would have loved it even more with a full vertical bank with the entire tail visible - may be a couple frames before this one?

Every snowstorm should have a gorgeous banking eagle! The fast ss served two purposes here, less snow "blobbiness" and perfect frozen wings. Terrific processing and no noise in that dark BG! sweet.

Gorgeous Dale, the snow falling really elevates the image!

Beautiful, Dale!

Super framing and nice detail on the subject, well exposed, love the BG colours. Great HA and wing position from the eagle:)

Excellent for the conditions. I might prefer it better without the snow, but as a winter photo,
it is very well done.

Beautifully captured under the conditions. Tack sharp on the eye and head.
