Every year, just before the snow covers the ground, flocks of Snow Buntings start congregating at this spot near my home before they move on to agricultural areas for the winter months. They love the rocks right by the waters of the Ottawa River (which serves as the BG here). This year is no exception:c3:.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/8, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, "cooled" the hue of the blue water. Audio used.

Great to have them around. Last year we had lots of them just outside of Guelph. Nice image, love the rocky perch and the nice pose, Daniel.

Daniel:

Nice to have reliable visitors!
Lovely light, well exposed, good eye contact.
I like the inclusion of the lower shelf of rock on the left, gives more sense of form/depth to the image.

Cheers

Very nice light and lovely bird. These guys are small and always moving around. Good of you to catch one. Loi

Hi Daniel, I love everything about this image ... but most notably (as Randy mentioned) your choice to include the lower part of the rock on the left.

I think snow buntings are so much prettier in non-breeding plumage!
Great light and perfect HA and great view of the feet.
Perch looks great,
Gail
