Snow Goose, adult head portrait. Bosque del Apache NWR, NM
This image was created at Bosque del Apache on the 2nd afternoon of the first 2015 IPT with the Induro GIT 304L tripod/Mongoose M3.6-mounted BLUBB (https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=12)-supported Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM lens (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/754508-REG/Canon_5125B002_EF_600mm_f_4L_IS.html/BI/6633/KBID/7226/kw/CA6004LIFEF2/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xCA6004LIFEF2), the Canon Extender EF 1.4X III, (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/732113-USA/Canon_4409B002_Extender_EF_1_4X_III.html/BI/6633/KBID/7226/kw/CA14XEF3/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xCA14XEF3), and the incredible Canon EOS 5DS R. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1119027-REG/canon_0582c002_eos_5ds_r_dslr.html/BI/6633/KBID/7226/kw/CAE5DSR/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xCAE5DSR) ISO 400. Evaluative metering -1/3 stop: 1/1600 sec. at f/9 in Manual mode. AWB.
Center AF point/AI Servo Expand/Rear Focus AF just behind and below the base of the bird’s lower mandible was active at the moment of exposure. As a result, the active AF point was precisely on the same plane as the bird’s eye. Click here (http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2013/10/31/if-this-doesnt-get-the-point-across-nothing-will/) to see the latest version of the Rear Focus Tutorial.
To learn how and why I had to rescue this one from the trash, see the blog post here (http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2015/12/19/the-sickest-ever-canon-eos-5ds-r-100-crop-and-to-think-that-i-rescued-this-one-from-the-trash/).
As for the image, see the 100% crop in the next pane. Otherwise, all comments are welcome and appreciated. a
