Hi Karl, I like the upside down pose with the extended neck. The finer plumage detail behind his head/back looks great. He certainly chose the right perch to have those BG colours compliment him. I can also see a vertical version here.:w3

Hi Karl,

I love everything about this one. Typical nuthatch pose, great background, interesting perch, great IQ.

Thanks for posting this one :)

A beautiful image Karl! I like the pose, IQ, details and the color of the perch matches the feathers near the feet perfectly.

Killer pose, BG, perch and image altogether!!! The IQ is really top notch. I do like the comp you chose, but you do have choices here.

Nicely captured, Karl. Great nuthatch pose, and the perch adds a touch of color that works well against the nice plain bg. As Stu and Marina suggest, you have other good comp options, but this one is a beauty.

Very sweet with fine detail, nice but not overwhelming perch and complimentary background.

Lovely pose and great detail. Nice smooth BG and colour which complements the bird well.Just a great image whichever way you turn it.

Great as it is Karl but would like to see a vertical if that is possible, the bird is beautifully exposed and pin sharp, bet your pleased with this I know I would be, nearly forgot that bg is super.

Thank you for your comments.
Here is a vertical but I still like the original better for some reason I can't explain.

The crops are so different that it's difficult to pick. I think I have to go with the vertical but I would consider just a little bit of a wider crop.

Karl we are being very picky here but my only thought with the OP I would like to see a tiny bit more space between the tip of the beak and the bottom of the frame, of course this is very personal and I find it hard to critique such a wonderful image as this, think I just sway toward the vertical .

Wow, what an unusual perch! Setup? Going for seeds? In any regards this is sweet. Unique nuthatch image :-)

I agree with your original format, that perch and BG is too sweet to remove. I'd just consider adding a little more space below the bird, otherwise a very nice nuthatch doing their usual acrobatic pose.

Lovely shot I marginally prefer the portrait but would suggest a looser crop.

Here is another vote for the original post. As noted above, this is a superb capture and the IQ is great. a

What a perfect Nuthatch pose, Karl. Beautiful light on such a nicely positioned, sharp Nuthatch. I like the unique perch and the smooth BG.
