I like everything except for the very steep angle, it shows the chest detail but the bird doesn't make enough connection with the viewer due to lack of eye contact IMO.

Your bird and BG are simply stunning. I can't imagine how I would react if I even saw one of these HBs. Yes the angle is steep, but I feel the left OOF portion of the perch detracts more than the angle. I wonder whether you could have backed up in this instance to cut off some of the angle? I realize in many instances we as photographers have no options, so just wondering.

Angle noted and I'm also not in love with the bright and bland perch. I'm wondering if recomposing this into a tight vertical might help a bit. That said, it sure is a beautiful bird and I would love to just see it, photographing it would be a bonus!

The steep angle and bright perch were my two main concerns too, but boy oh boy did you ever get this guy's colours to shine! The gorget is stunning.
