Good to see that you still have your head above water Jonathan! Good capture of this gull with the added bonus of the bird with food, looks like a small crab. Nice angle to the bird and I like the wing position. Just a pity that the gull wasn't angled a little more to its right which would have eliminated the wing shadow on the head.

Hi Jon, lovely hovering pose from the Gull having just caught his meal. Nice and sharp, love the clear eye, and I do like how he is separated from the BG surf. I feel the image needs a touch of CW rotation. :w3

Lovely details Jon and I do like the natural looking BG. Well captured. If this was a bird of prey everyone would be raving about it :S3:

Hi Jonathan,

I like the composition, with legs hanging down, wings up, and food in bill.

I am not sure about the white balance of the surf at the bottom of the frame. Is there a color cast to it?

There appears to be sand dropping just below the bird around it's legs. I would consider those specs as good candidates for cloning out.

Hi Jon, Nicely done but the light from the high left hurts it a bit for me. Any idea what the prey item is? a

Thanks for the feedback everyone much appreciated. The image was captured in 2012 at Tangi beach in The Gambia. I have no idea what the prey was, it could even have been scraps from a rubbish tip or offal from the place where they were landing the day's catch, perhaps even a crab.
