Hi Jon, typical pose from a Thick Knee when encroaching in their territory. Good eye contact, I like the raised leg, and I do like the plumage detail.

Im lucky enough to have a few in the area where I walk the dogs every evening. I just havent got around to posting them yet. :w3

Hi Jonathan. I like the eye, the raised leg and the birds position in the frame. Plumage detail is good but the far BG looks a little 'crunchy'. I like the way that the subject stands out from the background. Interesting bird that I have never seen.

Nice shot Jon looks like you had some strong sun well handled, like the bird with it's raised foot and those almost hawk like eyes, very well done.

After 6 trips to the Gambia can't manage to talk my wife into another, did enjoy the time I had there.

Pleasing image of this rather odd looking bird. I might try and lighten the shadow a bit, many ways to do this, but I like the Nik filters, tonal contrast module for a task like this.

Neat bird with an amazing looking eye. Good head angle for the wary pose. I only wish there would have been more separation between the subject and the background.
