This is supposed to be the fastest flying water bird, speeding at 129 Km/h, but the Long-tailed Duck still looks faster to me.
Maybe because it is smaller and more erratic in flight.
Thanks for looking.

Well caught, good focus exposure an colours the light has rendered fine details in the head and bill.

Hi Karl, I dont recall having seen one of these posted in flight, so great that we get to see this flying pose showing off the near wing. Nice and sharp, and I like the light in this. Your water BG's are really striking, and rounds off your subjects very well.

Nice looking image Karl. Your getting great flight poses and BG's on these recent shots. Are they from the same location. I like the whites and the detail on the wing

Nice flight image. Good detail and colours. The bird stands out well from the nicely coloured background.

Excellent Karl. I would only punch up the blacks a tad, but super stuff.

I like the colors and the BG, very cool to get the Merganser in flight against a blue BG. Wish for a better far wing position. looks like the critical focus was on the near wing, leaving the head a bit soft.

Nice light and a great pose of this speedster Karl. Yes to some selective sharpening on the head only. Well done
