this is yet another of the "full sun" series. This one had just side stepped to the right and
I caught him in a rather awkward pose, but interesting IMO. That high light shined
right down through the eye

400mm, ISO 800, f/8, -1EV....taken 11:58, just before noon

Hi David,

A very nice elegant pose and lovely exposure control. Excellent details as well.

Dave,
The pose is outstanding. The sharpness is excellent and you nailed the exposure in a very difficult situation.
Some food for thought, fill flash would have filled in the shadows on the face. At 400mm ,a flash with a Better Burner, I mean Beamer on high speed sync should do the job.
I would like to see the rest of the ripple on the bottom right of the frame.

Thanks for sharing,
James

Excellent critiques above.
I never shoot birds on this light conditions, because I never get a keeper, you have no problems handling the exposure. Love the pose.

You handled the harsh light well, pose and setting are great, too. It looks as if S/H or curves resulted in some noise in the shadows and I would clone out the bright spot at the lower corner of the eye. I agree with James regarding a wider crop.

Nice exposure, colors, and detail. I like the way the rippled reflection breaks up the smoothness of the rest of the BG. Although I find the spot from the light shining through the eye interesting, I 'd remove it.
