Love it. Great whites Bill- in pretty harsh light by the looks of it. Positioning of the birds is spot on. Can imagine the mallard saying " I was here first !"

Thanks John. The light wasn't unduly harsh, but was beginning to brighten up. Sunrise was at 7:02 and this was shot at 8:01. The sun had just cleared the trees behind me, and was still being slightly filtered by a bit of coastal haze.

This is great fun Bill!
Love the title and the image of the 2 species together. I wonder if this is the swan is looking the the "frog/mallard" prince and wondering if she should kiss him!!
Excellent DOF, the light looks good to me.

There is something delightfully messy about this image from the molting mallard to his perch. Love it, great work with getting the birds in focus. Your whites look just perfect with nice details. Really a fun image to view.

Hi Bill,

Had to show this photo to my wife. She says it is adorable. I agree with her.

I have only one suggestion: Keep up the great work!

Appropriate title for these two, Bill. How lucky you were to see them. Great handling of the whites, and nice detail.

I like it too, in fact the more I look the more I like it, the swan has an inquisitive glance at the mallard who just pretends the swan isn't ther!
