Well caught John - lovely pose. I would suggest a tad over sharpened due to the angle of the light. Also I would loosen the crop a bit (but probably tight to minimise a busy background??)

Thanks Jon
Interestingly this and theEgret shot have no extra sharpening other than the usual round which I always do before I downsize for posting. The sun has certainly brought out the feather detail in the Robin. I atually checked the camera and sharpening is on normal. Don't think I,ve ever altered it.

Hi John. I like the bird's pose and open bill but I do agree with Jonathan in that the image appears over sharpened. I'd like to suggest that you hold off on sharpening until after you have down sized your image. Thanks for posting.

Nice looking image John, certainly different from the norm Robin. Lovely details.

Thanks all.

Thats exactly what I do ! I crop the image for comp,- downsize to 1200 or whatever in bi-linear mode- then one round of weak sharpening before posting. They reckon its the lack of a sensor filter on the D7100 that can give the effect of oversharpening. Suppose its better rthat way than the other!
Thanks for looking.
