Going through old files as there is no bird photography to be had in October/November here in Nova Scotia.Things start up again in December with the eagles and ducks.
Took this last winter.
Canon 1 DX
1/1000 F 5.6 ISO 1000
600mm
I provided the salmon! Eagles are expensive dates.:w3
Usually, the eagles will pick up the salmon and fly away to the middle of the lake but on this occasion the eagle flew down to the salmon and ate it on the spot. He kept turning the salmon head away from me but for a brief moment repositioned the fish so that I could see the salmon face and eye.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

Magnificent bird, so powerful and regal. Your timing was perfect. As always techs spot on. Thanks for sharing, Gail.

Terrific shot, Gail. Your perseverance paid off again. Nice of him to cooperate if only for a brief moment, but you were ready. Love the looks by bird and fish alike.

Another winner Gail, great expression from both bird and fish (not sure the salmon would agree though!)

Great image, Gail. Having the fish head turning to our way makes the image besides the nice pose and great details of the Eagle.
If the top of the Eagle head could be more separated from the background it would be better but I don't know how.

All been said Gail.
Great stuff. What a pity the BG wasn't just a tiny bit darker behind the head. No big deal.

Wow, you were close enough to pull off the extender. Tons of great feather detail from the perfect exposure and nice that you did get a few with the salmon head our way. Great work Gail. Your Eagle collection is awesome.

Another fine frame Gail. All been said above, which I agree with, the expression on both their faces is priceless.

The eagle queen does it again! Exposure and sharpness are spot on. What really makes this image stand apart is seeing the fish's eyes. Great work, Gail.
