An image taken from Point Imperial on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I got there when it was still dark and waited to see if there would be a sunrise. The clouds move through quickly so conditions can constantly change. Here the sun broke through the clouds casting rays of light.

Canon 5D3
70-200 II @ 85mm

ISO 200
Tripod, 2 stop GND filter, ff, levels, curves, luminosity mask, LCE, sharpened in CCPS.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Superb, Rachel.
I might either bring up the FG a tad or crop a bit off the bottom.
The God rays are excellent...

Lovely composition with subtle and very interesting colors. I would consider a gradient darkening for the top half of the top cloud layer, and might do a curves to bring a little more punch to the FG.

Hi Rachel, well planned here, and love the rays breaking through the clouds. I also like the different layers in the overall image, and I do like how Diane has brought out the FG. If this were mine, I would probably come in from the right to eliminate the 'open' part of the sky. :w3

The layering and the play of light here are excellent, Rachel!
I'd have loved to witness this scene first hand - which is what a landscape photograph ought to evoke in a viewer. I like what Diane did in her RP...

Beautiful Rachel...Diane's repost is more what I am thinking for the image but do think the contrast on the canyon wall could be pumped up a touch more...lovely :)

Love all the horizontal layers presented in this image and the vertical rays of light.
I like what Diane did.
