Hi Dan, when looking at the image, I had expected to read that this is a HDR image, so kudos for capturing this big dynamic range! I do think that the rock could be toned down a little, this is what made me think this was a HDR. I see a reddish color cast on the lower right of the rock. Is this in the geology of the rock, or is it a flare from the setting sun? I think the composition is very pleasing and I like all the structure that is showing on the rock.

Hi Dan - Well seen! Beautiful warm tones and the placement of the sunset works. There's an evident halo where the rock meets the sky/clouds on the left and right, stronger on the right.

Rachel

Cool composition and overall tonal quality here Dan.
I agree on the halo, perhaps you were just a bit hasty in shadow recovery or highlight reduction given that it's a single exposure? I'm sure it can be avoided through diligent masking of adjustments.

Hi Dan...love the comp and agree on the halo...have you thought about applying Nik Detail Extractor to the rock here? I think it would take it up a notch.

Nice work handling the dynamic range here! Agree about the halo and red flare to the right. Lovely composition!
