Hi folks just went out this evening for a quick run at my local town lake and came back with some frames of this Little Grebe , sadly it turned away all the time as soon as he/she came up from diving .
All frontal shots has been too far away sadly .
So i had to take what i could get , they are really shy at that location , but the only place around here to see them .

Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 500 IS L II + 2x TC
HH

F 8 ; Iso 6400 ; 1/1600 sec

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; cropped to 60 % of FF ; NR to the BG .

Thanks looking and commenting to my last posting that is a while ago .

Cheers Andreas

About as nice as light and color can get. Nice details too. Yes, this is a butt shot with imperfect HA, but this is definitely working for me.

Just like Sid pointed it out.

Sweet shot Andreas!

I am a big fan of sunrise/sunset tones reflected in the water. The tones you have here are super! You had good illumination of the Grebe too for the time of day.

Scanning with my eye from left to right, as many of us are conditioned to do from reading, you may feel this shot could benefit from being flipped horizontally. I tried it and the composition flowed nicely, with the bird on the left looking right. That, in my opinion would be a subtle (and perhaps subjective) improvement of this already fantastic shot.

Thanks for posting this Andreas. I would love to see more :)

Grebes are tough; Little Grebes even tougher. The light and color are wonderful, and the focus is nice and sharp on the head. Otherwise, the butt shot doesn't work for me, but we've all been in circumstances where you take what you can get.
