Captured this youngster, calling his parent for food, in mid-August 2012. The juvenile Forster's Tern sports this ginger plumage, which starts to disappear by the end of August and is gone later in September.

D7000, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 1600, 1/1600s @ f/7.1 manual.

Plumage I haven't seen before. Nice capture of the hungry youngster calling, Bill.

Nice light and IQ.
Good calling pose.
I like the bed of sticks as a perch, but in a perfect world, that stick would not intersect with the leg (but I am being super picky here!)

I'm liking everything about this one Bill. Great light, action, and nest inclusion.

I could be imagining things, but I see a little yellowish cast?

Nice low angle and I love the open bill begging pose.
I see what Gail mentioned about the stick, but it ain't a deal breaker for me.
Well done Bill and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Akos. This was taken about 20 minutes before sunset, which could explain some of the peachy color.
