I hope this is ok to post in here as it was taken at the Ft. Worth Zoo. If not just let me know and I can repost somewhere else.

This guy was laying on a rock facing and right up next to the glass.

30D & 100 f2.8 Macro, ISO 640, f9 @ 1/15, hand held using the glass as a support.

Thank you for looking! Comments always welcome.

This certainly gets my attention !
I like the DOF, just enough to keep the entire eye structure in focus.

Hmmm... I'd be a lot more comfortable taking this with extension tubes on a 600mm. :D
Good to know he was behind glass.

Real eye catching image - sorry I couldn't resist.;) Seriously, I like the way the eye is well focused and well exposed. The rectangular catch light is a bit too bright for my taste, but I still like the image a lot.

Hello Steeve,

Wow! Excellent image!!! The aperture choice (f/9) was perfect in order to get the whole eye in focus!!!

Also even if you were on the glass, you are able to be stable enough vertically to use 1/15s... Not too easy to do !!!

Great job and in my POV, your image is within the good section :)

Thanks for sharing this remarkable picture!!!

Bill, Ed, Michel.... Thank you all for your comments! He was only a little over a foot long or so, but situated well in his enclousure for a picture.

Thank you again!

Gus, Julie... Thanks for the feedback! I like this image too and was supprised it came out like it did. Pretty dark in the ol'reptile house with lots of kidos running around in very close quarters.... Lots of nose and finger prints on the glass too! The zoo is building a new "State of the art" reptile house due to open this summer sometime. A very good friend and fellow BPN'er, is also friends with the guy that runs it so we have our collective fingers and toes crossed that there might be an opportunity there.

Thanks again!

Steve

You did well given the shutter speed and photographing through the glass. Great detail.
