This was shot during a snowstorm at Stromness whaling station on South Georgia island. Shot handheld in available light. Canon 1DX, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS II + 1.4TCIII at 280mm, f/5, 1/1600, ISO 640

Maybe just try to darken the eye area where it appears to have some OOF snow lightening it.
What an awesome scene to see and to photograph in.
Very nicely done. :)

Excellent work getting the snowflakes to look good, difficult to achieve, nice ...
maybe a touch more contrast on the Tern.

Geoff:

I never think of Terns and snow! Well captured, with the comment about the face/eye being effected by the snow, spot on. I think you can improve it.

Cheers

I haven't seen this bird posted before. Great opportunity, excellent flight shot.

Love to see shots taken in different conditions, think you have achieved an excellent capture, would love to see a bit more of it's eye but that is being really picky.

It should be pretty easy to fix that eye/face area with the burn tool. Pretty cool to see a tern in snow, pretty unique image.

Love this! So neat to see a tern with snow. You did an excellent job of capturing this tern in flight ,as sharp as can be despite the snowflakes.
