Distant Snipe.
One from my recent sessions on these birds. I have loads of "in your face" stuff and this distant shot I thought made a nice change. Lacks the IQ of the close ups but made a nice enviro I thought.

John:

A well composed birdscape, with attractive background, esp. the purple tones. Because the reflection is partly blocked by the greenery, thought I might like it better cropped up from the bottom, but didn't.

Wish his head was slightly towards us.

Fun to try different styles.

Nice setting and colors. I wish for a better head angle here. TFS.

Thanks Randy/Lorant.
I did try it too but then thought the water at the bottom was quite nice. The bird was a bout to go into display mode- hence the "springy" stance ! and head angle too I suppose.

Yes I agree John, nice to see a lovely tranquil landscape with the light and palette of an English Monet. Some birds just don't get it when it comes to posing for the camera. Regards, Ian.

Wish for a better HA too.
It'd be worth having a small white flag to poke out of the hole of the hide to attract its attention to look?
Or something similar that will not spook it, but make it look your way.
Well done in any case John. I love this birdscape lots.

This is a terrific birdscape.
Love the vegetation in the water and the pink flowers in the BG.
Do you have any with a better HA?
Well done John!

Thanksall. I posted the one displaying with my recent snipe post which was virtually with the bird springing up in the air. I missed the right head angle by a fraction.

Simply beautiful environmental shot. I like the reflection as is, and the lovely bg. Is it heresy to suggest that not every image needs a perfect HA?

Another Snipe in the open, you guys are killing me. Never are they in the open here. Lovely image, John. Thank you for sharing.

Like everything about this birdscape, John. My eye is drawn to the Snipe, but it's an image one wants to stay with and take in the whole environment as well.

Hi John, love your low perspective here, and great that you have a partial reflection between the reflected foliage. The flowers in the upper BG add a splash of colour, and a better HA would have put this on another level.

Thnks everyone. I should be able to say I planned this shot as an enviro/habitat- which is not my normal style- but I didn't. It was accidental- testing a lens on a didstant bird!!!
