Taken on a windy day which necessitated a high shutter speed and high ISO.
Canon 7D Mk2 : Canon 100-400 L Mk2 : Handheld
1/1600 @ f11 ISO 800 No flash

Like the sharpness on the body and the curled tongue! Nice perch, a tough pose to get everything in focus.

Hi David,
As Warren mentions, nice focus where it counts on a pose like this. A lovely specimen you captured here and great BG. I'm wondering if some of the yellows are a little hot - may see what toning them down some looks like. nice image.

Yes I like this and the ISO does not seem to be a problem, good focus but I too get the impression some yellows look a bit hot - the larger parts on the dorsal aspect of the left wing.

A lovely shot! The second one is dark, to me. You don't say how you are processing, but I wonder if its possible to recover some highlight detail in the first and still hold the mid-tones about as they are. The basic contrast seems about the same on both, just looks like exposure has changed.
