Wonderful snipe capture, and I love the muddy bill. Only thing that would have improved it would be for you to have been lying face down in the mud. :t3

Thanks Bill. I have done that from time to time- but not intentionally !!

Unusual pose and a wonderful close encounter. There seems to be a lot of insect larvae on the mudflats in your part of the world. There is some horizontal funk above your handle. Regards, Ian.

Hi John,
nice close up - love the muddy look you caught. well exposed. I also see the spot above your name that needs some work. Very nice image overall.

Thanks
Well spotted Ian Its basically the wrong picture I,ve posted.. The line at the top is the effecct that using CZM as a high pass filter to sharpen, has this quirk of duplicating one of he edges. usually its quite obvious but not so in this one,
Also got the wrong techs - here ammended
D200
Sigma 100-300mm
800 ISO
250th @f9
Hide
Quite large crop. Usual PP Neat Image/CZM. White sbploge removed.
Taken late afternoon- low sun so I've tried to keep the effect
Maybe bit big in frame for some. I took most of the small spec highlights out but it lost the effect of the mud on the foot so I put some back in !
Cheers

Hi John, the repost looks good to me. Very nice detail on the bird and you did well to get this close.

As much as I love getting down into the mud for low perspectives I think this area would have been too much for me!!:t3 Super good details on the head, and I love the muddy bill and legs. Neat inquisitive pose too. The shadow streaks could have been problematic but they are fine.

Good RP I agree. Great light and bird species, the mud adds a lot too.
Don't mind the perspective, but I am not afraid of mud like the Canucks! :t3
