Common Snipe
Sat for several hours for these to make an appearance. I had to cough to get the bird to look at the hide. Once they start probing they go like mad.

Nice work in the mottled light, John. Like the mud on the beak and nice detail. Lighting suits his design.

The equipment shows in this one, but a nice perspective and a cool bird, I would tone down the RHC a lot...

Hi Will
Thanks. I must admit I have a few this year in the end which started off n a bad note. Still laboriously going through PP- I hate it ! It would be interesting to see a forum where there was no PP whatever !
Cheers

Love that over the shoulder look, John. Plumage is beautiful but looks a bit smooth. Not sure if that is the D200 resolution or whether it is from noise reduction in post.

Hi John, great look back pose, and what a good view of that long bill covered in mud. That really is squelchy stuff down there. :w3

Thanks
Tony- Yes its a bit of both ! Its a case of having a shot with the bird a bit unusual but a pic with less quality- or no pic at all.
Cheers
