Nice looking plumage, excellent IQ, pose and background, Gail.
I consider the eye is the intended focal point.
For that reason I would move the bird to the left in the frame by about 8-10 mm. (1/3-2/3)

Gail:

Excellent exposure, details, profile. Certainly fits the theme. The soft greens in the BG set the bird off well.

I see Karl's point, and might crop from the left just a sliver as well, but it is close, and I find it appealing as presented.

Cheers

Randy

Hi Gail, love the soft light, which in turn has brought out the whites so well. Love the blue eye, 'peach' coloured bill ( is that a colour :w3 ) and you even achieved a slight head turn. Killer smooth BG. I would maybe remove the lower smaller catchlight.

Beautiful portrait Gail, awesome exposure, lovely detail and brilliant blue eye, thanks for sharing. (I would be tempted to take a tiny bit off the right to get rid of the small shadow on its lower leg).

For me a vertical 3x2 crop would be better. Perhaps I am just too conditioned to that way of thinking, but I have a thing "against" square crops, or not more rectangular crops. Maybe I need to ease up. :S3: I'd be tempted to crop in front of the leg in the 3x2 version.

I just love the detail and the colours that work really nicely with the BG.
It is a very special shot in my opinion.

very nice portrait, I like the comp you chose and the details. I wish the sun was right behind you but the light angle isn't bad as is. TFS

Lovely image, Gail. Lovely colours and smooth BG. Another vote for cropping a bit off the left.

Thank you all for your comments. Here is my repost with a bit off the LHS as you all requested.

The bird is well lit and the sun angle has helped give the bird form and detail where otherwise some might be lost. The image overall is flawless IMHO. Nice work and well done:)
