During fall migration these beautiful birds visit our lands in small numbers. Due to a call from Jasper I had the pleasure to work with them for 1 sunny morning........:)

Sharp. Wonderful subject. Perfect pose and exposure. Perfect head-anlge, good light-angle. I am a shorebird nut, and I love it. The placement of the horizon line, however, bugs me just a bit. Would have loved to have seen one with a just strip of sky at the top, and one with the horizon line lower, down by the ankles (which are the visible joints in the legs--most folks think that what are actually the ankles are the knees.

Well done. And later and love, artie

I'd love to have this in my files. The Dotterel is one of my nemisis birds. I can echo Arthur, but what he said are also my thoughts. Anyway it is a great image

Great angle, pose and light. I can see Artie's point but like it as is. It's maybe a bit oversharpened.

The question is if the 'knee' is the ankle, where is the knee? :)

The joint that corresponds to our knee joint is hidden up in the belly feathers. The bones in what we see as the leg, the ones that are below what is actually the ankle, correspond to the bones in our feet.
