Close-up shot of a Rosella feeding on sunflower seeds, taken from a hide in my garden. Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF300mm f/2.8L IS II USM +1.4x III, 1/1000, f 5.6, ISO 2000, evaluative metering. Cropped and sharpened in CS6. Thanks for looking, critique welcome.

Beautiful detail and colours, bits dropping off the seeds add interest, smashing smooth BG to set it off.

Nice capture Gerhard. Looks a bit bright, I suggest you check for 'blow-outs' in the colour channels. Regards, Ian.

Very nice portrait. I agree the bits of food falling add to the image. I know it's only a re-sized version for web but the IQ looks quite good for ISO 2000, although I'm not sure you needed it that high in this case. I'd likely darken the blacks on the wing, but good exposure and colours, as well as a nicely balanced crop.

Great portrait of this rather colourful bird. I like the inclusion of the seed and falling bits add some interest to what otherwise would be just a nice portrait but wouldn't have much going on in it. Very nice background, good head angle and IQ looks good.

Excellent portrait and decent IQ especially for ISO 2000. A bird in the act of chomping on seeds needs a reasonable SS in my experience.

Hi Gerhard, good HA, and this fellow certainly has a variety of colours, which in turn you have exposed very well. Good focus and sharpness on the head, and posed against a nice smooth BG.
