Captured in Tarangire NP, Tanzania, 6 April 2015.

Canon 5DIII + 600 mm f/4 II + 1.4x III extender, hand-held from a vehicle.
Manual, spot metering, spot AF, AI Servo, f/7.1, 1/800 sec, ISO 800.
Processed with DPP4 and PS Elements.

Ian I am amazed that you can hand hold that large lens and still get such a sharp shot,nicely perched bird on a good bg ,fine piece of work

Wow! You made the most of your encounter with this bee-eater. I have been to Africa 5 times and never had a bee-eater that allowed this kind of approach.
The soft light is perfect for this bird.
IQ is excellent.
Love the comp and the simple perch. Great BG.
No nits from me!

Perfect looking Ian, really like this one. Fab colours on the bird and perch and match the BG very well. Detail on the bird is awesome. Great capture

Great image, everything is spot on, the pose , sharpness and perch. A super presentation of a bird I would very much like to see. Another one for the retirement list.

Great details, nice smooth background that complements the subject and good HA and perch. If it were mine I'd crop it a bit differently and lose some empty space on the right to move the bird off centre more and gain some space on the left if possible. A favourite species of mine that I've only been able to photograph once in Borneo and that was the Blue-throated.
