I headed out to photograph cenotes for a magazine in Mexico. These motmots are always around...guarding the magical place. Light was harsh that hit through the forest canopy.

Great looking bird Lorant but I am not enjoying the view because of the difficult background lighting. Looks like you needed a lot of shadow recovery or is the faint haze due to scattered light down your lens barrel? Regards, Ian.

Lorant I think Ian has covered the technical points better than I ever could, have tried to photograph these birds myself and know it is not easy, very much like the way you have got those long tail streamers ,well done getting this shot.

You were obviously faced with an extremely difficult shooting situation. The exposure and sharpness of the bird is well done! The open beak, HA and tail are well captured. In hindsight, I wonder if you could have taken a second shot exposed for the background, preferably after the bird left, and blended the two?
