Impressive detail in the darker plumage, not always an easy bird to get right.

Did you do some cloning in the sea above him, there seems to be a few unusual blobs.

This is "Masterpiece", Jonathan.
Every thing is superfine in the frame. Very sweet colour pallet.

Regards,
Satish.

Hi Mike no, no cloning it was just a crop for composition.

beautiful bird Jonathan, great detail and pose - the natural colours have come out well without any pp

my only comment and I'm not an expert in any way is, maybe reduced the head room and take some of the top, up to 50% from the top of the birds head to the edge of the frame - be interested to hear you views on this comment as it will help me … plus I am sure that you framed it that way for a reason

Hi Bill the reason it was cropped that shape was because there were other birds in a non photogenic configurations. Also if the bird was more up to the TRHC the wings would end up a little close to the edge so that is how it ended up like this.

Many thanks Jonathan - so you have cropped it to a standard ratio, rather than gone for an unconstrained crop

I always have problems deciding if to venture into unconstrained crops as I have always stuck to standard ones

You absolutely nailed the exposure and details.
So nice I would like to see it tighter in the frame.

I thought the same as Mike about cloning artefacts.
Comp seems a bit bottom heavy. But mate, you nailed the exposure and got some awesome details.
WEll done

Hi Jon, excellent exposure, and I like the calling pose with the swept back wings. I like the hint of yellow from the mouth, and comp wise, maybe a touch off the top, and a slither off the LHS. :w3
