I captured this image at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Most times I do not like the overhead shots I take. I like this one, I think the head angle and the light on the underside of the wings works well. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

I would be pretty happy with this one Joe!
Love the nice colors and eye contact with the bird.

Joe:

I agree about overhead shots in general, but the clouds help, the transillumination and underwing exposure is nice, and the head turn, eye contact makes it work for me. Nice comp too.

Cheers

I too am not a fan of overhead views but this one is an exception. Having the wing shadow across the chest at just the right angle helps and the bird is clearly making eye contact with the camera. The clouds make for a more interesting sky and the diagonal composition works for me. Well done, regards, Ian.

Add me to the camp of not being a fan of overhead shots but this one is nice.
Wispy clouds add a lot and the way the sun shines through the the wings and onto the head really adds to the shot.

Agree with all of the above. This one works well esp b/c you have a good angle on the head and eye, and b/c the underbelly is well lit. I also like the hint of clouds in the BG.

I am not a fan of overhead shoots either but agree with the others that this one works. Very well done Joe!

Indeed it works, Joseph! Almost feels as if the subject slowed down to take a good look at you:)

Nice detail, lovely colours, sharpness is there. If I were to nitpick I would say the legs are a tad too dark for my taste, but not a deal breaker.

Well composed and presented, enjoyed viewing, thank you so much for sharing:cheers:
