Having missed this massive stork last year in Belize, I was pleased to get several looks at him in Amazonia.

D7200, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 800, 1/2000s @ f/7.1 manual, monopod from boat.

Bill:

That is one impressive looking stork! Almost cartoon character like.

Nice transillumination, splayed primaries, stretched out legs.

Did you have to clean up the catchlight at all?

Glad you had a chance to see and photograph this impressive fellow.

Cheers

Randy

Thanks Randy. The catchlight looked like that in the RAW file, except that it popped out more when I sharpened the bird.

That's an amazing stork Bill, The black in the head looks excellent. I like the view of the open wings you gave. Thanks for sharing a Stork I have never seen.

You could slightly reduce the catchlight in the master file then before downsizing.

Does look a little lacking in detail though. Not sure if you cropped this heavily.

Great pose, and indeed, a massive build and I echo Randy's comment about the cartoon character likeness.

Thanks for sharing Bill!

I am late to the party but agree with all of the above comments.
Love the black and red and white.
I agree with Akos on the details in the whites but still a fun image of an unusual bird.
You must have been thrilled to get this. I know I would be!
