Hand held Canon 1DX Canon 100-400L 11, ISO 400, Manual mode 1/2000 sec f5.6.
The sun was shining brightly over the cliff top, I was on the edge and this fulmar was cruising up and down just below the cliff top. As it flew by I modified the exposure and in the end the compensation was 0, leaving the bird slightly hot but I knew I could recover that in processing.
I suppose it's a "marmite" shot, all comments welcome.

Sort of shot that I like Jonathan, wish I could do them to this standard.

Hi Jon, I like what you have done here, and the Fulmar stands out nicely against the darker BG.

Oh yes, this works for me too -nice work, Jonathan!

I like the framing and presentation in general, the dark BG is very dramatic and this eye-level view of this Fulmar in flight is superb. Bird is nice and sharp, good IQ.

I agree with Andreas above on dropping the blues, otherwise a stunning shot (not marmite to me, LOL) I absolutely love this!

Excellent work Jonathan. I really love these dark BGs, such an artistic kind of feel to images like this.
Great pose and sharp as nails.

Very nice! Sharp and artistic. Exposure well handled in my opinion. The totally black background adds mystery to the image.
