They nest in the same parking lot again.
Last year the first clutch was eaten by a raccoon more than likely.
The second nest got run over crushing the eggs and one of the birds.
The surviving bird tried it with a new mate.
I protected the site with stakes but then the eggs were eaten by a raccoon more than likely.
Thanks for looking.

I remember your story and images from last year about this Killdeer. I like the display, HA and sharpness.

I like the visual balance of the vegetation in this image. Striking broken wing display and, not only is the image quality very good, the head on pose is a real plus imo...so often when I see this scenario, the bird will have it's back to a person to display better I guess in order to lure the "predator" away....

This is too cute, Karl:) Cannot believe they nest in the parking lot...makes it easier for you to photograph, I guess they must be quite accustomed to humans:)

The composition works very well here with the subject "nested" somehow between those bundles of grass, the pose is just wonderful and I like the movement, well processed and I really enjoyed viewing, such images make me pop in to this Forum more and more often, thank you so much for sharing!

Kind regards,

If it weren't for the green grasses on the right, the comp balance would be lacking. Shame about their eggs.

Great HA, pose and details. TFS Karl.

Not something I'm used to seeing, so I like this a lot. Interesting comp which works for me
