I managed to get the wings on this one! I would appreciate your strongest criticism on this one please.

That's very good Jon

colours, composition and all the technical aspects of the shot

and ISO1600 has stood up really well

maybe slightly too shadowy in places which you could look at in pp ……. but I am sure that's how you saw it .. so it is just a matter of opinion

I would be extremely happy if I had taken that shot

Outstanding. The only way I can think of to get a better shot would be to use flashes or compositing. This is an achievement approaching that, done the hard way.

Excellent -- all said above. If it were mine I'd add a little canvas on top and maybe crop a little from the bottom if I needed to keep this aspect ratio.

Jonathan,
Excellent image. Bee looks wonderful, tack sharp with nice wing position. Superb colors and details.
If mine, would darken the flower slightly and remove the white spot on the leaf next to flower.
Composition is fine, however you have plenty of choices to recompose by placing the bee where ever you like, since it isolated and with uniform BG.
I am not expert in macro, but what I felt...is this...

Regards,
Satish.
