This Fighting Conch (shell about 3 inches long) was emerging from the wet sand after being temporarily stranded by low tide on Sanibel Is. FL. I like the eyes at the end of long stalks. 5D II, 100 mm macro, 1/80, f/16, ISO 400, AF, tripod, mirror lock, cable release. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

That is a really different shot, never seen anything remotely like it before, surely this would do well in competition. I doubt if I could suggest anything other than the possibility of reducing the brightness of some of the larger pebbles/fragments on top of the shell. Well spotted and taken.

Gorgeous -- new to me, too. Looks like it bites! Love the color, exposure, focus and detail. No suggestions for improvement.

Such pretty eyes! Nicely captured, great work as always, Steve.

I never knew conches looked like this !!
The only small detail is getting the DOF for both eyes to be in equally in focs, but when you have something as unusual as this who really cares?
