Hand held Canon 1DX Canon 100-400L 11 Auto ISO 500 +1.3, 1/2500 sec f5.6. In DPP I tamed the brightest highlights, in Photoshop I applied a luminosity mask to the head, then I brightened the eye a little.

Hi Jon, nice looking frame, I love the tail feathers. Haven't seen one up here yet. Not be long now, they are great birds to photograph and you captured this one well.

Hi Jon , really nice job in the PP work .
Well framed flight shot of this great looking Tern .If this was mine i might try to give the sky a bit more color/depth , but this could be just me .
Nice job :5.

Good pose and detail. I suggest a bit of dodging of the eye to give a bit more life.

From my limited experience it's hard to et much more from a predominantly dark eye in dark plumage.
Love the photo, good wing position and the tail is pretty cool.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I did saturate the sky and lower the brightness a little but agree it looks less than ideal. I also brightened the eye but as Akos indicates it is not easy to make it stand out and remain natural.
