I was very surprised to find this guy frequenting the bird feeder in my moms backyard yesterday AM. He seems to have moved on now but I was really happy to get a few nice images of him. What a stunning bird! I was shaking like a leaf when he landed on my perch

I'm curious to know what people think of the yellow in the BG??

Glenn, this is a very nice, detailed image. The yellow bkgnd is ok by me.

what a great image Glenn.....glad you got some on your perch.
Very nicely detailed pp.....the yellow is a nice element IMO, but the
large yellow space just right of perch may be a bit strong.

A bit more contrast/S curve does define the bird and perch a bit stronger and subdues the bg a bit

so what though.....the bird is beautiful

my favorite woodpecker!!! very beautiful. agree with dave that the one yellow spot just right of the perch could be toned down just a bit.

Great find, light and details. I haven't seen an adult bird and am wondering if the back plumage does look blueish. The only yellow spot that I find a bit distracting is the one right of the perch.

Love the pose in this one Glenn and the great composition. I find the yellow spot to the right of the tree trunk a bit distracting . Many thanks for sharing

Just tone down the brighter yellow spot to the level of the others and you have a winner!

Lovely woodpecker (one that I'm dying to photograph I might add). I would fix the yellow spot on the right.

Well done. Nice colors, good detail. I do not mind the background. The only nit I have is your name and web site stuck at the top. If you must do that, IMHO anyway, place a frame around the image and put the information there.
