Photographed at Bolsa Chica Wetlands through a fence. There was a strange pattern in the fore- and background - presumably from the fence - which I removed with a Gaussian Blur quick masking the Tern and the areas to the left and right of it. Curious if the transition from the blurred to the sharp areas is too abrupt...

Hi John !!! Agree with you on the transition. Would tone it down since it does seem abrupt. I like the head position and particularly being able to see the eye clearly. Would take some from the bottom.

The transition does not look too abrupt to me, the in focus part only seems to be lower. I might crop a bit off the bottom. Good to know that the terns have a protected nesting area.
