This species had always eluded me, until the other day when I found a cooperative one. This is another bird that one can often hear, with it's insect-like call, but rarely see poking around the forest floor. This guy was willing to hop onto a perch for an unobstructed look, although I did have to remove some twigs and tone down some highlights in the busy background.

Well done on getting this fellow into your collection. Really nice colors, texture and sharpness. The oof perch in the foreground bothers me a bit, but that's what you had to work with. His body angle suggests he wasn't planning to hang around for too long, it looks ready to jump off to another location.

A nice pose and a lovely bird and a nice image. On looking at the twig I wonder if there is a hint of forward focus which may have led to slightly less detail on the bird hence a slight amount of noise creeping in during sharpening process?

Just looking at this image conveys that he is likely to be a tricky subject. I like the pose and subtle use of flash, you were obviously well prepared!

THe pose looks a little odd, as if it were about to take off as mentioned.
Nice colours and detail. Always great to capture a new species. :)

Bill, Congratulations. This is my nemesis bird as well. They breed in Ohio.

Adrian, I see your point, although I think the bird's head is almost in the same focal plane as the sharpest part of the perch. I ran the AF Fine-tune just a few weeks ago, but it might be worth rechecking. Also, I did need to correct a slight underexposure which might explain the slight noise.

Not a warbler we often see, congrats! These guys are not found up here, so I appreciate a good look at it! Neat pose and wonderful BG. Looks like you had some variable light to deal with - good call using fill. Too bad a bout the fg part of the perch being so oof, and comp-wise I could see a version with the subject a tad higher in the frame.

Congratulations! and a neat pose as well. Nice light and use of FF. Great detailed look at this beauty before he flew.

Big congrats on getting this warbler.
I have to agree with most of the above comments so will not repeat them!
