Not sure if its the movement or missed AF but this one looks soft around the head to me, sorry but not up to your usual standard. Shows the wing colours off nicely though

I agree Mike it does look a little indistinct, I think this is just a little better, I agree with your assessment, the the shutter speed may be a tad slow (I checked the focus point, it was the white patch adjacent to the eye) I have brightened the eye a little on this repost:

THe bright OOF grasses really compete for my attention. The HA is not quite ideal, but it is a bird being a bird, so not a big deal. The blurred leg adds interest.

Hi Jon. Its great when you can capture them with the light on the wings, as you have done. Nice details, agree about the HA not being the best, needs faster shutter speed I reckon. Thanks for sharing
