While doing a little yard work, I spotted this robber fly on a fig tree branch. The leaves of the tree helped shade the fly from the high noon sun. This image is the result of stacking 5 images using Helicon Focus Lite. This is my first attempt at using this technique for increasing DOF.

Great results, Tim! I assume you were shooting this off a tripod?

I've seen some great work done with Helicon Focus, but a tripod would certainly limit the subject matter ????

Gus, thanks.

Bill, thanks and yes I used a tripod on this image. I use a tripod 99% of the time due to low light conditions most of the time. At first it caused me problems approaching dragonflies, but I learned to get low about 15 feet before the subject and "walk" the tripod. I can now get to a distance where I have to use extension tubes on my 180 macro.

Hey Tim, you did a great job with this using Helicon. Good sharp image with a great BG.

Very nice image. The depth of field is excellent as is the color. I am not very familiar with Helicon. Any chance you could show one of the single images that you combined.

Ed, here is an image with 4 of the 5 images I used in Helicon to create the one image.
