I made this image in my garden last month. I rather liked it..

EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 320 mm
MKIII 1/160 f 7.1 ISO 400

Comments greatly appreciated..

Hi Bruce,

Like the slective focus effect and the bud to the side of the poppy. Light is nice and soft also.

I think a zoomed out crop would work better since the dark corner is a little distracting and the pod's tip is clipped.

Moving the camera a little to the right might have made a big difference here. I'll try zooming out to pick up the clipped bud. Thanks Robert

Hey Bruce I really like the comp and the softness, and would liked to see the orange fill in the dark corner and as Robert mentions, the clipped bud tip.

With that lens, I'd add an extension tube and get in closer.

And of course, Bruce, the nice thing about photographing our State Flower, which grows all over the state, is that you and I can go out and re-photograph it pretty much whenever we want. Like George Lepp, I never tire of photographing this species ;7)

You're absolutely right Bob - these guys are eveywhere. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by a bunch of poppies on the side of the road and made tentative plans to come back when the light is better..
