It took me a second to figure out that his feet weren't on backwards! Nice shot, great colors and love the BG.

Very nice Jim. I have never seen this bird before so thanks for sharing this. Lovely pose and beautiful colours and details on the bird. Nice HA. Good work.

A sharp image of a beautiful, hard to photograph bird. A pano crop to lose the bright orange branch in the upper left corner along with the sharply focused catkin near the same spot might work very well. In addition, me thinks at least from here that pulling the curve up a bit would improve this as well as the colors look very dense.... Lastly, I could stand just a bit less head turn towards us.

Please do not get me wrong, this is a lovely image and I wish it were mine :) a

Yes a fine image Jim. The large catkin is a little grabbing but orherwise the BG is one I would die for. Just the sort I like. The bird to me looks spot on- smart looking little fella it is too.

What's not to like!
Love the extreme lookback pose. Nice light as well.
I like the BG but would be awfully tempted to prune out the OOF grass above and left of birds head.
Excellent DOF and the slightly opened wing is a nice touch!
Good one Jim!

I love the light and colours. Good pose and great perch. I too would be tempted to remove those grasses Gail speaks of (I really like the leaves in the immediate ULC though!)

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. I am going to tweak the image incorporating some of them.
