This beautiful Egret found me at FT. Desoto on Friday. This was pretty harsh late morning sun, but the opportunities to shoot this guy at close range are rare, at least for me. This was a brief encounter. As he walked by the reeds he was a bit too close and larger in the frame than I would have liked. I wish he would have given be a bit of a look, but it will have to do until my next chance.

Beautiful image, you handled the light well, great IQ,for me,would like a bit more room on the left for the bird to walk into, have to say again, the IQ is magic, well done.

Great capture, Robert. I love the colors, background grass really sets off the bird and think you've done really well in the light conditions. The pose is very nice, the raised foot and extended tail feathers all are bonus items. I agree with your self criticism that overall the framing is a bit tight, but this image still works just fine.

Wow, she is looking mighty pretty!!! THis is such a pretty frame between the colors and the environment and the feathers. Agree it's a little tight but if you really like it you could easily add some blue on top.

Really super image Robert, you did super well in harsh light. Love the raised foot and the background. If anything a better head turn and a bit more space (as you say) would have been awesome. TFS

So very pretty and with those blue legs an alternate title could be Red, White and Blue.

TFS this lovely image.

Missed this earlier. Beautiful shot. Bit tight but as mentioned - it works.
Great stuff.

Nice work with what light you had. That may be the same one I saw a week ago there, but it stayed wayyyy out on the flats Wednesday morning. That area (the end of the parking lot?) provides for some nice backgrounds too.

Excellent frame with lovely 3D effect.
Very nice pose with raised foot, great breeding colors and nice composition.

Thanks for the comments, I have 3 frames of this that are nearly identical, With only foot position being of much difference. I played with expanding canvas even more, The top as suggested by Marina is easy. Robert, Surely the same one you saw, After she spent 90 or so seconds with me. She flew to the other end of the parking lot and stayed in the off limits area for the rest of the afternoon. I ate lunch at the snack bar and kept an eye on her. She stayed wayyyy out of camera range, but she is still fun to watch hunt from long distance.

Reminds me of an Audubon, I would hang this image in my home. Very elegant and to me one of the most beautiful that I have seen. I appreciate seeing the egret in the context of it's environment. The textural differences between the grass and feathers add interest.
