Very nicely exposed bird, not always easy with all the lighter bg trying to fool the meter.
Although not a fan of artificial perches in general, the curving lines and shallow depth of field here works quite well.
Might consider a slight crop from right because the birds attention is turned well to the left.

Please post your technical details with each image: camera, lens, settings and post op process.

One of your first...but if the bird photography addiction bug bites you your hard drive will soon fill up with bird images!!:S3: Good IQ on the subject, and an OK pose (I'd have preferred the head turned our way instead). Nice colours. If you have it, I'd have liked more room top and left for the composition. Hopefully you can get this young fella on a nicer perch next time! Thanks for sharing...
