Kalahari Ghost Rain

Ghost rain occurs when it's so hot the rain evaporates before it can hit the ground.
To give you an idea of the extreme conditions of the Kalahari - this was taken 3 minutes after SUNRISE this past December ...

That's a typical California rain. Very pleasing image and very nice how you found a slight indentation in the ground to match up with the V of the clouds and rain.
