I spent Sunday Afternoon photographing this Yellow Warbler. It was fairly consistant in returning to the tree I had staked out. This was shot with a Canon 1D MkIIn with a 500L IS F4 and a 2X TC at 1/320 sec. at F9. Exposure compensation was -2/3 for ambient, and no compensation for the flash which had a better beamer attached.

Hi Glenn,

You did well with the flash and capturing the bird in a nice pose and a nice head angle.

Nice pose and details. I might remove one of the catchlights and crop a tad off the top. For some reason it looks as if the bird has no upper mandible. Is this because of the angle?

Thanks for looking Charles! I was using a 2x TC on this shot, and I chose to shoot at F9 so I could increase my chances with sharpness, but the downside is the background is more distracting.

Thanks for the comments, and suggestions Axel! It probably is the angle as I have other shots where upper mandible is more noticeable.

Beautiful color and detail and good catchlight in the eye. At first it looked like the angle was a little steep but I think it is probably due to the head angle. Thanks for sharing Glenn.

Thanks for the comments Judy! I think his head was cocked just slightly!
