These are stunning ducks, and you've captured this one nicely. Good focus on the eye. It feels to me as if a bit of CW rotation is in order.

Agree with Bill a little rotation but that apart the Duck is stunning with great detail.

Fab details on the duck, the feathers are beautiful. I would leave the crop as is, it gives the impression that the duck is sleeping on a slippery slope :S3:

Really stunning details, right down to the sliver of the foot that we can see beneath the redhead. If you have room in the original frame, I might compose a version with the duck more in the lower left corner (as viewed) and show more of the ice top and right. Nice work.

Perfect exposure with excellent detail and rich color here Derek... the head and eye are gorgeous.
I like the composition as presented because IMO... it shows the right amount of the water with reflections, and the snow/ice. :S3:
Very nice work, and a pleasure to see.

Oh wow, I love the roundness of the tilted resting pose, the higher vantage point really worked in your favour here. Very nice fine details on the head. The slight glare of the ice is superb, and I like that we see the foot under the thin layer of water.

Is this from Southern Ontario? Every year I see tons of images of waterfowl that I cannot get close to here...I really need to make a trip down there next year!

Thanks for the comments Daniel, the shot was taken at Lakeview marina in Windsor. I live about 45 minutes away and finally went to check it out a couple weeks, needless to say I'll be going back on a regular basis.
