I liked the dainty pose - almost as if it was dancing, I deliberately set the crop fairly loose, all C&C welcome.

Hi Jonathan i like the wider view of this frame with nice colors and overall tones .Good detail but i would sharpen the subject slightly more .

Nice POV and good exposure on the whites.
I am OK with you leaving the crop loose but I would move the bird to the RHS of the frame and then up or down in the frame depending on what you have to work with in the original.
I wish the far wing did not merge with the head but do enjoy the pose.
It is too bad the light was coming from the RHS creating the shadowed area on the breast.

I'm fine with the small-in-the-frame approach, but honestly, I don't love the flat wing position. Do you have any in this sequence with the wings up? Nothing you can do about the shadow, and I think because it doesn't interfere with the head, I don't find it a deal breaker.

Excellent dancing pose indeed, Jon.

I'm enjoying the delicate dancing pose and don't have any problem with the wing position. I like the space you have given the subject, but I would look at cropping some of the canvas off the RHS - almost half of the space that is there.

Thanks for sharing,

Gerald

Hi Jon, love the dainty pose, as if the water is too cold - probably was. :w3 I would definitely move the gull to the RHS, and Im fine with the shadows due to the wing position, acting as an umbrella.
